We are the Be’er Sheva Municipal Wind Orchestra.
Exactly 25 years ago, in a meeting between Mrs. Sharona Kapon – oboe player – and Mr. Nissim Alsich, then the conductor of the Be’er Sheva Youth Orchestra. At the time, there was place for adult amateur musicians to continue playing.
Following that meeting, the orchestra was established. Experienced amateur musicians, mostly graduates of youth orchestras, all of whom shared the common motivation to continue playing music.
Over the years, the orchestra has absorbed many additional musicians, some students and some new immigrants.
For several years now following the retirement of Mr. Nissim Alsheikh,
Mr. Micha David has continued as conductor of the orchestra.
Mr. Micha David himself was a member of the orchestra (alto saxophone).
The orchestra performs in various events throughout the city and around the country, also taking part in festivals of youth orchestras and competitions around the world.
The orchestra holds regular rehearsals, on Sunday evenings, in the conservatory auditorium.
The orchestra is sponsored by the Be’er Sheva Municipality’s department of Education, Culture and Sports, “Kivunim”, the Be’er Sheva Conservatory of Music and the Friends of the Be’er Sheva Wind Orchestra.

Mr. David graduated with honors from the Be’er Sheva Municipal Conservatory
and youth orchestra. He served in the IDF Orchestra, where he acquired his
unique conducting skills.
Noteworthy events in which he played an active part include the signing
ceremony of the peace agreement with Jordan, President Clinton’s historic visit to Israel, an international festival of military orchestras in France, receptions for dozens of world leaders and more.
After his military service, Mr. David studied law. In 1998 he was appointed to manage the music center in Ramat Aviv. Upon returning to Be’er Sheva, David joined the band as a full-time saxophone player, becoming one of the founders of the Nissim Alsheikh Wind Band Association. In 2010 he was appointed conductor of the Nissim Alsheikh Beer Sheva Municipal Concert band. Mr. David currently practices law and has his own law firm.
מר נסים אלשיך - מייסד ומנצח ראשון
אלשיך נולד בדצמבר 1926 בעיר הנמל וידין שבבולגריה, על נהר דנובה. סיים את לימודיו המוזיקליים באקדמיה למוזיקה בבירה סופיה. ב-1949 עלה לישראל וב-1950, עם גיוסו לצה”ל, הצטרף לתזמורת צה”ל בניצוחו של שלום רונלי-ריקליס כנגן כינור, ויולה וקרן יער. ב-1955, עם שחרורו מצה”ל, החל ללמוד בסמינר למורים למוזיקה בתל אביב ובאותה עת החל מלמד מוזיקה בבתי ספר בתל אביב וביפו.
ב-1958, שנה לאחר שסיים את לימודיו, עבר אלשיך לבאר שבע והיה ממייסדי ומפתחי החינוך המוזיקלי בבתי הספר ובסמינר למורים, כולל הקמת מקהלות (בבתי הספר ומקהלה עירונית), תזמורות בבתי ספר, תזמורת סימפונית ראשונה (לחובבים) בבאר שבע והיה בין מקימי הקונסרבטוריון העירוני. ב-1961 הקים את תזמורת הנוער העירונית של הקונסרבטוריון וניצח עליה.
ב-1973 הקים את התזמורת הקאמרית באר שבע (כיום הסינפונייטה הישראלית באר שבע), ניצח עליה בהופעותיה הראשונות ואף שימש גם כמנצח משנה. בין השנים 1983 ו-1993 ניהל את הקונסרבטוריון העירוני בבאר שבע, ובמקביל סייע בהקמת קונסרבטוריונים בנתיבות, ירוחם, ואופקים לפי בקשתם של ראשי המועצות המקומיות.
ב-1996 הקים את תזמורת כלי הנשיפה על שם נסים אלשיך באר שבע והוא שימש כמנהלה המוזיקלי וכמנצחה עד שנת 2010.
אלשיך הוא דמות מרכזית בפיתוח החינוך המוזיקלי בבאר שבע ובנגב, ובשנת 1996 זכה בתואר יקיר באר שבע.
